Dance Review 2012

Dance is over until fall.  To celebrate Taya participated in the annual dance review.  The girls were escorted to the dance floor by their fathers and introduced.  Royd was at BYU this weekend, so Quade stepped up to take his place.  I was so proud of the both of them (even if they don't like to get their pictures taken.)  Taya danced beautifully.  She is turning into a delightful young woman.
I love you Taya!

EASTER

I have never been a really huge fan of coloring eggs.  I really don't know why.  I can't even remember the last time we colored eggs as a family.  This year Dace had it in his head that it was not an option.  We were going to color eggs!  So, I broke out the coloring and vinegar and we got to it.  Quade was out with friends, so it was just Reese, Taya, and Dace.  They all had a great time.
The next day was Easter Saturday.  I got up at my usual 4:45 to help with Bountiful Baskets.  While I was there I heard all the fun things the other ladies had planned to do with their families.  I knew that Royd had a day full of yard work planned for us, and it didn't sound like a fun way to spend the holiday.  I could tell it was going to be beautiful day.  When I got home I asked Royd if we could scrap the yard work and spend some fun time with the fam.  It did not take much convincing.  It wasn't long before we were headed out the door.
We stopped at the Enterprise eggs hunt on our way out of town.  Dace and Taya were able to load up on goodies.  We then drove to St. George.  We met up with Richard, Chandler, and Carter, at the Red Hills driving range to hit a few.  We then took lunch up to the Dixie red rocks for a picnic and light hiking.  Afterwards we all went out to the movies.  The kids all went with Richard and Julie, and Royd took me to look at the art show.  We picked up the kids and headed home.
It was a wonderful day out with the family.

Worn Out

I made the kids walk home from school the other day.  Dace kept telling me he was tired.  I told him that he could walk the little more than 3 blocks home then take a nap.  He did just what I told him to do.  When I got home more than 3 hours later this is what I found.

Aviation

Reese has some really neat scout leaders.  The made it possible for all his troop to earn their aviation merit badge.  They drove to Las Vegas and spent the night.  They got up early the next morning and went to an airplane hanger where they learned all about different types of airplane.  Here is the kicker!  They were able to board a small plane and fly to the Grand Canyon.  They saw amazing views.

I let Reese take my little camera.  I showed all of the pictures of the flight he took.  But I had to leave out about 400 pictures he took of the car (see picture below.)  The kid flies over the Grand Canyon in an airplane, the the coolest thing to him was the Lamborghini parked in a parking lot.

The following pictures were emailed to Royd form the scout leaders.  They found this outdoor bath tub, and dared Reese to take off his shirt and sit in it.  You know Reese, he can never turn down a dare!

New Year Updates

I have been so incredibly busy the last month.  It has always been very busy time of year for us.  Royd is busy with all of the sporting events he needs to organize.  The kids have all of their extra curricular going on. And now I have started my masters classes, which makes time a huge issue at our house.  I feel very lucky to live where we live.  Everyone is going a hundred miles per hour in all different directions, but we can manage because we live in walking distance of most places we need to get to.  The kids have been so good to make sure they are where they need to be with out a lot of help from their missing parents.  Here is a little snapshot of what they have been up to lately.

Quade had the honor of being invited to join the Southern Utah Honor Band.  This is a huge big deal.  He did an awesome job I was very proud of him.  He was a little nervous because all the kids in the band were so good.  He felt a little intimidated.  I had to remind him that they got the same invitation they did, and he earned his way there.

Taya is our little dancer.  She has been performing at the basketball games at half time.  Unfortunately, I was unable to make most of her performances.  Others have told me what a good job she does, and how adorable she is.  She also was able to participate in the school talent show.  She had her first "REAL" babysitting job.  Her"clients" were very pleased and are going to call her again when they need a babysitter.

Dace had a birthday!  He is 6 years old.  He had a huge party.  We invited 10 rambunctious 5-6 year old boys.  I don't think my house will ever be the same.  Taya had all sorts of games planned for the bunch.  They played freeze dance (Dace's favorite). They tied balloons to their ankles and tried to pop
others balloons.  Upstairs Taya had set up centers.  They rotated between, Bey-Blades, video games, and cupcake decorating.  It was probably one of the longest hours of my life.  Taya set a up a spanking machine, but Dace wasn't going to do it.  It stop all of his friends going in for him.  He opened presents.  I took all of them home, and took a nap.

In December Quade was ordained a Teacher.  He also has finnished all of the requirments for his Eagle.  He is waiting for the paperwork to get back. He will be having his court with his cousin Jeremy as soon as it is official.
Dace is quite the artisist.  Below his  recent work titled "3 Snowmen".  I am terrible at keeping this sort of stuff.  I though this would be a good way to keep them, and show them off.
This next peice really did catch my heart.
The 5th-6th grade Valentines Dance is one of my favorite day's of the year.  This is Reese's last year to participate.  No more dance's untill he is 14.  The kids learn and practice dancing for about a week, then get dressed up and party on Velentines Day.  Reese's favorite dance was the Jitter Bug.

That is what we have been up to lately.
